Q9H4A6

3'-exoribonuclease that has a preference for poly(A)tails of mRNAs, thereby efficiently degrading poly(A) tails.Exonucleolytic degradation of the poly(A) tail is often the firststep in the decay of eukaryotic mRNAs and is also used to silencecertain maternal mRNAs translationally during oocyte maturationand early embryonic development. Interacts with both the 3'-endpoly(A) tail and the 5'-end cap structure during degradation, theinteraction with the cap structure being required for an efficientdegradation of poly(A) tails. Involved in nonsense-mediated mRNAdecay, a critical process of selective degradation of mRNAs thatcontain premature stop codons. Also involved in degradation ofinherently unstable mRNAs that contain AU-rich elements (AREs) intheir 3'-UTR, possibly via its interaction with KHSRP. Probablymediates the removal of poly(A) tails of AREs mRNAs, whichconstitutes the first step of destabilization (PubMed:10882133,PubMed:11359775, PubMed:12748283, PubMed:15175153,PubMed:9736620). Also able to recognize and trim poly(A) tails ofmicroRNAs such as MIR21 and H/ACA box snoRNAs (small nucleolarRNAs) leading to microRNAs degradation or snoRNA increasedstability (PubMed:25049417, PubMed:22442037).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10882133, ECO:0000269|PubMed:11359775,ECO:0000269|PubMed:12748283, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15175153,ECO:0000269|PubMed:22442037, ECO:0000269|PubMed:25049417,ECO:0000269|PubMed:9736620}. Phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate-binding protein thatlinks Golgi membranes to the cytoskeleton and may participate inthe tensile force required for vesicle budding from the Golgi.Thereby, may play a role in Golgi membrane trafficking and couldindirectly give its flattened shape to the Golgi apparatus. Mayalso bind to the coatomer to regulate Golgi membrane trafficking.May play a role in anterograde transport from the Golgi to theplasma membrane and regulate secretion. Has also been involved inthe control of the localization of Golgi enzymes throughinteraction with their cytoplasmic part. May play an indirect rolein cell migration. Has also been involved in the modulation ofmTOR signaling. May also be involved in the regulation ofmitochondrial lipids biosynthesis. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16263763,ECO:0000269|PubMed:19553991, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19837035,ECO:0000269|PubMed:22745132, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23027862,ECO:0000269|PubMed:23345592, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23500462}.
