SELENBP1

Q13228

Component of the EKC/KEOPS complex that is required forthe formation of a threonylcarbamoyl group on adenosine atposition 37 (t(6)A37) in tRNAs that read codons beginning withadenine. The complex is probably involved in the transfer of thethreonylcarbamoyl moiety of threonylcarbamoyl-AMP (TC-AMP) to theN6 group of A37. OSGEP likely plays a direct catalytic role inthis reaction, but requires other protein(s) of the complex tofulfill this activity. {ECO:0000255|HAMAP-Rule:MF_03180,ECO:0000269|PubMed:28272532, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28805828,ECO:0000305|PubMed:22912744, ECO:0000305|PubMed:27903914}. Catalyzes the oxidation of methanethiol, an organosulfurcompound known to be produced in substantial amounts by gutbacteria (PubMed:29255262). Selenium-binding protein which may beinvolved in the sensing of reactive xenobiotics in the cytoplasm.May be involved in intra-Golgi protein transport (By similarity).{ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q8VIF7, ECO:0000269|PubMed:29255262}.
