Rho GTPase-activating protein involved in cell polarity,cell morphology and cytoskeletal organization. Acts as a GTPaseactivator for the Rac-type GTPase by converting it to an inactiveGDP-bound state. Controls actin remodeling by inactivating Racdownstream of Rho leading to suppress leading edge protrusion andpromotes cell retraction to achieve cellular polarity. Able tosuppress RAC1 and CDC42 activity in vitro. Overexpression inducescell rounding with partial or complete disruption of actin stressfibers and formation of membrane ruffles, lamellipodia, andfilopodia. Isoform 2 is a vascular cell-specific GAP involved inmodulation of angiogenesis. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15302923,ECO:0000269|PubMed:15611138, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16862148}. Promotes expression of the ion channel CACNA1H at thecell membrane, and thereby contributes to the regulation ofchannel activity. Plays a minor and redundant role in promotingthe expression of calcium channel CACNA1S at the cell membrane,and thereby contributes to increased channel activity. Slows downthe inactivation rate of the calcium channel CACNA1C.{ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P97306}.
