Prevents inappropriate targeting of non-secretorypolypeptides to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Binds to nascentpolypeptide chains as they emerge from the ribosome and blockstheir interaction with the signal recognition particle (SRP),which normally targets nascent secretory peptides to the ER. Alsoreduces the inherent affinity of ribosomes for proteintranslocation sites in the ER membrane (M sites). May act as aspecific coactivator for JUN, binding to DNA and stabilizing theinteraction of JUN homodimers with target gene promoters.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10982809, ECO:0000269|PubMed:15784678,ECO:0000269|PubMed:9877153}. Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules(PubMed:23001566, PubMed:28013290, PubMed:26732629). It binds twomoles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain andone at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha chain (By similarity).Plays a critical role in proper axon guidance in both central andperipheral axon tracts (PubMed:23001566). Implicated in neuronalmigration (PubMed:19465910). {ECO:0000250,ECO:0000269|PubMed:19465910, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23001566,ECO:0000269|PubMed:26732629, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28013290}.
