P05546

Transcriptional coactivator of serum response factor(SRF) with the potential to modulate SRF target genes. SuppressesTNF-induced cell death by inhibiting activation of caspases; itstranscriptional activity is indispensable for the antiapoptoticfunction. It may up-regulate antiapoptotic molecules, which inturn inhibit caspase activation (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. Thrombin inhibitor activated by the glycosaminoglycans, heparin or dermatan sulfate. In the presence of the latter, HC-IIbecomes the predominant thrombin inhibitor in place ofantithrombin III (AT-III). Also inhibits chymotrypsin, but in aglycosaminoglycan-independent manner.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:1939083}. Peptides at the N-terminal of HC-II have chemotacticactivity for both monocytes and neutrophils.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:1939083}.
