Effector of small Rab GTPases which is involved injunctional complexes assembly through the regulation of celladhesion molecules transport to the plasma membrane and actincytoskeleton reorganization. Regulates the endocytic recycling ofoccludins, claudins and E-cadherin to the plasma membrane and maythereby regulate the establishment of tight junctions and adherensjunctions. In parallel, may regulate actin cytoskeletonreorganization directly through interaction with F-actin orindirectly through actinins and filamins. Most probably involvedin the processes of epithelial cell differentiation, cellspreading and neurite outgrowth (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. Chaperone protein which promotes assembly of the 20Sproteasome. May cooperate with PSMG1-PSMG2 heterodimers toorchestrate the correct assembly of proteasomes.{ECO:0000269|PubMed:17189198}.
