ASH2L

Q9UBL3

Plays a role in the degradation of histone mRNAs, theonly eukaryotic mRNAs that are not polyadenylated(PubMed:18172165). Probably also part of an LSm subunits-containing complex involved in the general process of mRNAdegradation (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:P47017,ECO:0000269|PubMed:18172165}. Component of the Set1/Ash2 histone methyltransferase(HMT) complex, a complex that specifically methylates 'Lys-4' ofhistone H3, but not if the neighboring 'Lys-9' residue is alreadymethylated. As part of the MLL1/MLL complex it is involved inmethylation and dimethylation at 'Lys-4' of histone H3. Mayfunction as a transcriptional regulator. May play a role inhematopoiesis. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12670868,ECO:0000269|PubMed:19556245}.
