Subunit of clathrin-associated adaptor protein complex 1that plays a role in protein sorting in the late-Golgi/trans-Golginetwork (TGN) and/or endosomes. The AP complexes mediate both therecruitment of clathrin to membranes and the recognition ofsorting signals within the cytosolic tails of transmembrane cargomolecules. Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141).
