ABHD12 | ERVFRD-1 |
This endogenous retroviral envelope protein has retainedits original fusogenic properties and participates in trophoblastfusion and the formation of a syncytium during placentamorphogenesis. The interaction with MFSD2A is apparently importantfor this process (PubMed:18988732). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:18988732}. Endogenous envelope proteins may have kept, lost ormodified their original function during evolution but this one canstill make pseudotypes with MLV, HIV-1 or SIV-1 virions and conferinfectivity. Retroviral envelope proteins mediate receptorrecognition and membrane fusion during early infection. Thesurface protein mediates receptor recognition, while thetransmembrane protein anchors the envelope heterodimer to theviral membrane through one transmembrane domain. The otherhydrophobic domain, called fusion peptide, mediates fusion of theviral membrane with the target cell membrane (PubMed:14694139).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:14694139}. |
Retention analysis result of each fusion partner protein across 39 protein features of UniProt such as six molecule processing features, 13 region features, four site features, six amino acid modification features, two natural variation features, five experimental info features, and 3 secondary structure features. Here, because of limited space for viewing, we only show the protein feature retention information belong to the 13 regional features. All retention annotation result can be downloaded at . * Minus value of BPloci means that the break pointn is located before the CDS. |
