Component of ribonucleosomes, which are complexes of atleast 20 other different heterogenious nuclear ribonucleoproteins(hnRNP). hnRNP play an important role in processing of precursormRNA in the nucleus. Transcription activator that binds DNA cooperativelywith DP proteins through the E2 recognition site, 5'-TTTC[CG]CGC-3' found in the promoter region of a number of genes whoseproducts are involved in cell cycle regulation or in DNAreplication. The DRTF1/E2F complex functions in the control ofcell-cycle progression from g1 to s phase. E2F2 binds specificallyto RB1 in a cell-cycle dependent manner.
