WT1-AS

Serine/threonine-protein kinase involved intranscription regulation, apoptosis and steroidogenic geneexpression. Phosphorylates JUN and RUNX2. Seems to negativelyregulate apoptosis by promoting FADD phosphorylation. Enhancesandrogen receptor-mediated transcription. May act as atranscriptional corepressor for NK homeodomain transcriptionfactors. The phosphorylation of NR5A1 activates SF1 leading toincreased steroidogenic gene expression upon cAMP signalingpathway stimulation. In osteoblasts, supports transcriptionactivation: phosphorylates RUNX2 that synergizes with SPEN/MINT toenhance FGFR2-mediated activation of the osteocalcin FGF-responsive element (OCFRE). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:14766760,ECO:0000269|PubMed:17210646}. Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}.
