Adapter protein that provides a critical link betweencell surface growth factor receptors and the Ras signalingpathway. Isoform 2 does not bind to phosphorylated epidermalgrowth factor receptor (EGFR) but inhibits EGF-inducedtransactivation of a RAS-responsive element. Isoform 2 acts as adominant negative protein over GRB2 and by suppressingproliferative signals, may trigger active programmed cell death. Catalyzes the deimination of arginine residues ofproteins. {ECO:0000250}.
