GRB2

P12277

Adapter protein that provides a critical link betweencell surface growth factor receptors and the Ras signalingpathway. Isoform 2 does not bind to phosphorylated epidermalgrowth factor receptor (EGFR) but inhibits EGF-inducedtransactivation of a RAS-responsive element. Isoform 2 acts as adominant negative protein over GRB2 and by suppressingproliferative signals, may trigger active programmed cell death. Reversibly catalyzes the transfer of phosphate betweenATP and various phosphogens (e.g. creatine phosphate). Creatinekinase isoenzymes play a central role in energy transduction intissues with large, fluctuating energy demands, such as skeletalmuscle, heart, brain and spermatozoa.
