Lectin that binds to various sugars: galactose > mannose= fucose > N-acetylglucosamine > N-acetylgalactosamine(PubMed:10224141). Acts as a chemoattractant, probably involved inthe regulation of cell migration (PubMed:28301481).{ECO:0000269|PubMed:10224141, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28301481}. Ca(2+) sensor specifically required for the Ca(2+)-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles containing IGF1 inneurons of the olfactory bulb. Exocytosis of IGF1 is required forsensory perception of smell. Not involved in Ca(2+)-dependentsynaptic vesicle exocytosis (By similarity). Acts through Ca(2+)and phospholipid binding to the C2 domain: Ca(2+) induces bindingof the C2-domains to phospholipid membranes and to assembledSNARE-complexes; both actions contribute to triggering exocytosis(By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:O08625,ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9R0N4}.
