Metallocarboxypeptidase that mediates deglutamylation oftarget proteins. Catalyzes the deglutamylation of polyglutamateside chains generated by post-translational polyglutamylation inproteins such as tubulins. Also removes polyglutamates from thecarboxy-terminus of target proteins such as MYLK. Mediatesdeglutamylation of CGAS, regulating the antiviral activity ofCGAS. Acts as a long-chain deglutamylase and specifically shortenslong polyglutamate chains, while it is not able to remove thebranching point glutamate, a process catalyzed by AGBL5/CCP5.{ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q09LZ8}.
