Transcription activator that binds DNA cooperativelywith DP proteins through the E2 recognition site, 5'-TTTC[CG]CGC-3' found in the promoter region of a number of genes whoseproducts are involved in cell cycle regulation or in DNAreplication. The DRTF1/E2F complex functions in the control ofcell-cycle progression from G1 to S phase. E2F3 binds specificallyto RB1 in a cell-cycle dependent manner. Inhibits adipogenesis,probably through the repression of CEBPA binding to its targetgene promoters (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:O35261}. Required for the innate immune response. Downstreameffector of the Toll-like receptor (TLR), TNF and IL-1 betasignaling pathways leading to the production of IL-6. Forms acomplex with YWHAB that acts to repress transcription of DUSP1 (Bysimilarity). {ECO:0000250}.
