Dihydrolipoamide succinyltransferase (E2) component ofthe 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex (By similarity). The 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex catalyzes the overallconversion of 2-oxoglutarate to succinyl-CoA and CO(2) (Bysimilarity). The 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex is mainlyactive in the mitochondrion (PubMed:29211711). A fraction of the2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex also localizes in the nucleusand is required for lysine succinylation of histones: associateswith KAT2A on chromatin and provides succinyl-CoA to histonesuccinyltransferase KAT2A (PubMed:29211711).{ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9N0F1, ECO:0000269|PubMed:29211711}. Acts as a co-chaperone of HSP90AA1 (PubMed:29127155).Activates the ATPase activity of HSP90AA1 leading to increase inits chaperone activity (PubMed:29127155). Competes with theinhibitory co-chaperone FNIP1 for binding to HSP90AA1, therebyproviding a reciprocal regulatory mechanism for chaperoning ofclient proteins (PubMed:27353360).
